๐ŸŽงCan you read independently without relying on phonetic symbols? Claire's personal experience Part 2

This episode once again invites Claire, who lives in Melbourne, Australia, to share her two daughtersโ€™ latest Chinese learning progress after a year. From the elder sisterโ€™s initiative to review the books she has read and start writing, to the motherโ€™s observation of whether the younger sister has entered the literacy sensitive period, Claire provides rich parent-child reading experience and observations.

Claire specifically shared that not forcing children to learn phonetic notation can help them achieve independent reading skills earlier; when children develop a reading habit, they will naturally learn to recognize words, understand the meaning of language, and develop internal motivation. She accompanied her children in their reading journey, from reading together to active learning, proving that learning Chinese does not necessarily require traditional courses, and that the key is to combine a lot of reading with daily life. This is a good episode for every family learning Chinese overseas to think deeply and resonate with.
